Episode at a glance:
[1:43] We start out with Hunter telling us about how he got started in the hairstyling business and how he was able to take his nerdy business brain and teach his fellow hairstylists how to find incredible success in an industry that has a low average salary.
What I've always loved most about being a hairdresser is that we get to make such a beautiful impact in another person's life.
[3:34] Hunter dives into how he knew it was time for a summit and how he got started. He already loved to collaborate with other educators in his space but knew he needed to do something to grow his email list in an organic way.
It was never about making money. With both of our summits, we've contributed 100% of the proceeds towards BIPOC beauty school scholarships.
[9:11] Because Hunter wanted to showcase his educators more than himself, he shares how he features his all-access pass as a way to support a worthy initiative and encouraged donations to the non-profit that he worked with to set up the scholarships.
[12:22] Hunter also talked about how not everything we do in business is going to feel comfortable or in alignment. But if you have a mission to make an impact in the world, then sometimes you have to play by the rules, embrace it, and do the uncomfortable thing to make an even bigger impact.
You can have a business that thrives and offers you the life you want, while simultaneously makes an impact in the world.
[15:48] If you want to support a cause or organization through your summit, but are unsure which to choose, Hunter recommends considering two factors: Choose a cause that your audience can get behind because that makes it much more natural for you to talk about and get your audience excited about promoting. And also consider the causes that are important to you and make sure you feel aligned with the cause you're supporting.
